Description
What it tastes like
Sweet and mellow. Malt loaf and golden syrup, a bit of vanilla, a hint of grape. No cardboard, no bitterness.
How it’s decaffeinated
Before roasting, the beans are steamed and soaked in water with a natural compound made from fermented sugarcane (ethyl acetate, if you want the science word). It draws the caffeine out, then the beans are steamed again and dried. The caffeine goes, the flavour stays.
How to brew it
Medium roast, so it’s happy in anything: espresso, cafetière, filter, V60 or moka pot.

Questions
Is it completely caffeine-free?
No decaf is. It’s 99.9% caffeine-free, so there’s a trace left, but nowhere near enough to keep you up.
What’s the difference between sugarcane and Swiss Water decaf?
Both skip the harsh chemicals. Swiss Water uses water and carbon filters. Sugarcane tends to keep more of the coffee’s natural sweetness, which is why we use it.
How fresh is it?
It’s at its best from about a week after roasting up to a month or so. The roast date’s on every bag.
How should I store it?
Keep the bag sealed, somewhere cool and dark. Not the fridge, it picks up smells. Got a 1kg bag? Freeze half and it’ll keep for months.
