Hello, I’m Phil. VENDUM Coffee is my little coffee roastery in Plumstead, South East London. It’s just me and one roaster that does a kilo at a time.
How it started
I spent about 20 years as a digital designer, with coffee as the thing I did on the side: lots of reading, lots of trial and error. Then on a trip to North Berwick I watched Steampunk Coffee roasting right there in the café, and it clicked. Coffee roasted where you can see it, sold fresh, tastes miles better. I wanted that for SE18.
What I roast
I keep it simple. A handful of coffees I really rate, roasted so you can taste where they’re from rather than just “roasted”. Coffee Morning is the everyday one. Common Espresso is darker, for espresso machines. There’s a Brazil grown by women farmers through the Café Delas programme, and a decaf that actually tastes of something.
Why fresh matters
Coffee’s at its best from about a week to a month after roasting. Supermarket bags can be months old before you open them. I roast on demand and ship within 1 to 2 business days, so it turns up at its best. If you’re in SE18 or SE2, I’ll often drop it round myself.
Where to find me
Online at vendum.coffee, with delivery across the UK (and free in SE18 and SE2, or on orders over £12). Or come and say hello at Plumstead Community Market or Woolwich Producers Market. I’m usually the one talking too much about coffee.
Want it every month?
A coffee subscription is £8 for your first month with code COFFEE20 at checkout, then £10, with free UK delivery. Pause, swap or cancel whenever you like.
The sensible bit
Five-star food hygiene rating, fully insured, and roasted in small batches on a Kaleido M10.
Cheers,
Phil
