Meet Dulima — the Coffee Behind Your Morning

There’s a reason we keep coming back to Colombia.

The coffee we use for our Coffee Morning blend comes from Huila — a region in the south of Colombia that sits between volcanoes and cloud forest, at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,000 metres. Up there, the air is cool, the soil is rich, and the smallholder farmers who grow this coffee treat it like it matters. Because it does.

The name Dulima goes back further than coffee. It was the word used by the Pijao people — indigenous to the land long before the Spanish arrived — to describe the great Tolima volcano that loomed over their home. It means Snow Queen. We think that’s a better name for a coffee than most.

What’s in the cup

Colombia Dulima is washed, which means clean and bright. You’ll find citrus, red berries, a hit of caramel, and dark chocolate underneath. It’s balanced — not a one-trick acid bomb, not a flat roast. Just a really good, drinkable cup.

That’s exactly why it’s our Coffee Morning roast. Medium roast, clear flavour, no fuss. The kind of coffee that works on a Tuesday at 7am and still rewards you if you slow down and pay attention.

(If you’re more of an espresso person, the same Colombian character runs through our Common Espresso — darker, with more body and bite.)

The region

Huila is Colombia’s most celebrated coffee-growing department — responsible for around 18% of the country’s total output, but consistently punching above its weight on quality. The farmers here are early adopters. They experiment with processing methods, take care of their lots, and aren’t farming for volume. It shows.

The Dulima lot is sourced from small farms across the central and southern part of the region, selected through cupping at origin to make sure every bag holds to the same profile. What arrives with us is consistent, traceable, and properly good.

Why we roast it medium

Washed Colombian coffees like this one don’t need much intervention. A medium roast keeps the origin character intact — the fruit, the brightness, the sweetness. Push it darker and you start losing that. We save the darker profile for Common Espresso, where the body and intensity work in your favour through milk or a straight double shot.

Coffee Morning is about the bean doing the talking. We just try not to get in the way.
